Juggernaut, which has come to mean a large articulated lorry/truck, or, a huge, powerful and overwhelming force, was originally a heavy processional chariot carrying the Hindu deity Krishna - it is reputed that early devotees would throw themselves under the wheels as it was dragged through the streets.
